MPNforum is a not for profit patient and caregiver collective, organized in April, 2011. MPNforum publishes stories, features and by-lined columns that impact the lives of patients suffering from the blood cancer, myeloproliferative neoplasm. The Forum independently reports on events, people and scientific research affecting the MPN community. All editorial features are open to public comment.
MPNforum Magazine is the only magazine in the world devoted to MPN patients and caregivers. Publications include MPNforum Monthly Newsletter and MPNforum Quarterly Journal of myeloproliferative science and therapy. Published at www.mpnforum.com on the 15th of the month. All services and the magazine are freely available on the Internet. Zhenya Senyak is Editor & Publisher.
MPNclinic: MPNforum sponsors the MPNclinic – an on-line resource for patients to have their questions answered by MPN specialists, currently Dr. Richard Silver, Dr. Srdan Verstovsek, Dr. Ruben Mesa, Dr. Claire Harrison, Dr. Attilio Orazi, Dr. Ross Levine, Dr. Jason Gotlib, Dr. Hans Carl Hasselbalch and Dr. Jean-Jacques Kiladjian. The Fatigue Project: MPNForum is working with the MPN community — MPD Voice, MPD Support, and the MPN Research Foundation — along with Dr. Ruben Mesa, Dr. Robyn Emanuel and their Mayo Clinic team and Dr. Claire Harrison of Guy’s and St. Thomas’ NHS (London) to gather data in anticipation of designing a clinical trial to test effective interventions to allay patient fatigue, the foremost symptom of MPNs and other blood cancers.
Subscription: MPNforum Magazine is open to the Internet without the need for subscription. (Subscribers get special bulletins, early notice of publication plus the option to join the private MPNforum Facebook discussion group.)
Hematology List: MPNForum maintains a publicly available list of nearly 100 patient-recommended hematologists continually available in the pages of the magazine. Project Manager: Ellen Jacquardt
Management: The MPNforum Magazine and private Facebook page are entirely managed and staffed by patients and caregivers with the participation of volunteer scientists, hematologists, and clinical investigators. A five member rotating Editorial Board participates in editorial oversight; three Adminstrators run the Facebook page, Jeremy Smith, Barbara Kurtz, Elizabeth Bassett; currently, two physicians and a registered nurse are active in managing MPNforum .
Viewers: 187,470 visitors have come to MPNforum’s pages as of May 15, 2013.
